The European Inventor Award
honours inventors not only for the genius of their scientific or technological
breakthroughs, but also for the impact their inventions have on our lives.
Nominations for the European
Inventor Award 2023 are now closed. Thanks to your
support, the EPO received 633 proposals,
the highest total in the event's history. Several
records fell, including the number of proposals in the SMEs category (153) and
the Young Inventors Prize (182). The nomination drive also reflected diversity,
with the inventors representing 53 nationalities across all continents.

To pioneering inventors working at universities or research institutes
Non-EPO Countries
To outstanding inventors from outside the EPO's 38 member states who have been granted a European patent
SMEs
To exceptional inventors at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
Lifetime Achievement
Honouring the incredible, long-term contribution of a European inventor
over the span of their entire career
Young Inventors Prize
Recognises initiatives that use technology to address a sustainability issue. This global prize is open to all innovators up to the age of 30.
