EPO and epi to co-operate on training
EPO President Benoît Battistelli has yesterday met with a delegation from the Institute of Professional Representatives (epi) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the training of professional representatives.
Yesterday's visit follows on from last year's Partnership for Quality meeting and provided an opportunity for the President to update the epi and its President Antonius Tangena on the EPO's latest results and achievements. epi expressed their congratulations to the EPO on achieving simultaneous increases over the last year in both productivity and quality. Representing patent attorneys from across Europe, epi is an important partner for the EPO and the meeting provided a valuable opportunity for the EPO to gather feedback from users.
The MoU signed by the two organisations is another milestone in the EPO's long-standing relationship with epi and recognises the importance of continuing education for professional representatives. It establishes a joint training programme, which will allow the EPO and epi to plan their training activities more efficiently in the medium and long term.
An annual work plan will now be proposed in order to achieve a "level playing field" across Europe, in which equal training opportunities will be offered to all professional representatives, independent of their location.
