What the user community needs - towards effective collaboration between East and West
Chairman: Peter Kallas (BASF)

At the 2009 "East meets West" forum in Vienna, the PDG (Patent Documentation Group) met representatives of Asian patent offices and their related organisations to discuss closer cooperation between industry users and the Asian patent offices. In 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 this fruitful dialogue was continued. This meeting has now established itself as a focal point for discussing user requirements pertaining to Asian patent information.

This year, PDG representatives will meet again with representatives from Asian patent offices to continue this informal exchange. The workshop will look at progress made since the last meeting in 2015. It will review recent developments in Asian patent information and their impact on patent information users. The aim of this ongoing dialogue between the user community and experts from Asian patent offices is to identify areas that still require improvements and to find a collaborative way of setting priorities for these.
